Work is running a skeleton crew of people who live less than 5 miles out. School is closed for the day. No plows have gone down the main road where I live. This is rural NC in 2 inches of snow.

Not gonna lie. Kinda wanna take the Cherokee out to a parking lot to do some snownuts...

2 inches of snow in NJ is considered “be at work on time”

I know you guys aren’t used to it, but my town won’t send out plows until there’s 4 inches of snow.

“Snow” day here in Baton Rouge, too. It was all I could do NOT to take the WRX to an empty lot on the way into work. I inadvertently did a couple of four-wheel “burnouts” trying to get going at the stoplight. I’d post a pic of the ice, but they keep getting kinja’d.

NJ has equipment to keep the roads clear. NC probably doesn’t even have salt trucks in most places.

My office in Houston is closed again today. Seems unnecessary, but it is still quite cold, so there may be ice in places.

You’d probably be ok. I usually pack a flat shovel in the car when it’s snowy like that.

But it’s also cold outside.

I was in 9th grade in PA during the “perfect storm,” bomb blizzard of January 93. Where I lived, we got 18 inches of snow Friday night and another 16 by Monday morning. Schools had a 2 hour delay. By Tuesday everything was on a regular schedule.

I’m just sitting in my office right now in Southeastern VA waiting on this same storm to get here. I have no idea how our management is going to handle this yet. All I know is the last time we got a few inches in the middle of a workday like this, it took me three and a half hours to make what is normally a 25 minute drive home. A full two hours of that was spent just trying to leave the base. Which is even more insane considering our building is only about 200 yards or so away from the main gate.

I have set my expectations extremely low so far. It definitely doesn’t help that I am driving my Civic with crappy all seasons, the same car that managed to get stuck in my driveway during the last snowstorm a couple weeks ago. So at this point as long as I make it home sometime today I’ll be happy.

Dude...small world. I lived in Central PA for 2 winters — 92 and 93. Quite a wake up call for a kid from Florida.

Birmingham is colder this am than I ever remember. Coming your way. All my CLT coworkers are at home.

My wife’s sister and a friend from work are both stationed at Norfolk. Baby sis is 22 with a ‘17 EB Mustang and she definitely won’t be driving in this.

Yep that’s where I am, I work for the Navy on the Norfolk Naval Base. As of right now it’s still business as usual, but it am expecting it to hit the fan anytime now.

Most of the staff in my office came into work this morning in Charlotte, but as the morning goes on and the snow keeps accumulating and the temperature keeps dropping - people are starting to go home early, worried about ice, the true bane of our southern existence.

It was supposed to stop an hour ago. i cleaned off the Renegade at about 10 am and there’s another 2 inches on it. I’m at home and getting restless

I just got home from leaving work shortly after lunch. I’m not waiting around for the roads to get icy in the late afternoon, and I had already gotten the work done that was best done in the office.

Now that I am on the couch with the dog, I’m not sure that I’m going to be very productive on what I brought home.
